SCS Sketch Challenge

I had a little bit of "free" stamping time this morning but couldn't come with ANYTHING so I popped on over to splitcoaststampers.com to hunt for some inspiration.  They have a sketch challenge every week and after checking it out, I decided to play along this time.  I already had this polka-dot paper embossed (isn't it THE CUTEST???! I'm absolutely IN LOVE with this embossing folder! And Nancy has them at Scattered Pictures!) so I grabbed some scrap of A Muse gingham paper and went to work.  I used several different stamps on this one, the backgroung flourish is TCP, the star flourish (stamped on the kraft paper but hard to see in the photo) is Verve Stamps and the sentiment is PTI.  I was mixing and matching today!  The star was made witha  SU! punch, adhesive sheets and glitter.   

It's a cool gray morning here and I'm loving it! I'm sooo ready for Fall!  Yay for jeans, boots and cute sweaters! :)

Workshop card #3

I'm feeling a lot better today!  I'm almost back to normal, still can't drive because of the dizziness and vision issues but atleast I can get up and shower now! Ha!   I still haven't been able to do any stamping but I do have another workshop card to share with you. 

This is actually my fave of the five cards that we made.  On this one, I had five different sentiments that the ladies could choose from to make the cards just what they needed.

Workshop Card #2

Here's the second card from my workshop - Masculine Birthday Card.  I know that it can be hard to make cards for males but I actually really enjoy it.  I have a few "rules" that I stick to when making masculine cards -

No-
-glitter
-ribbon
-scallops

Yes-
-Brads
-Hemp
-Staples
-Distressing

I also like to keep it really simple because most guys won't notice lots of details like a woman would.  And of course, the most obvious is to use "guy" colors - most men wouldn't want a pink sparkly card! :)

For this card, I used the Paper Piecing technique with the A Muse Thank you gift (this stamp is long retired but it's one of my faves, I use it all the time) since I wanted the present to coordinate with the striped paper but didn't want to color it in.  Paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques and can be used with almost any outline stamp.  Brads, hemp and distressing finished off the masculine look of this card.

Finally!

My internet is working again! Hooray!!  We haven't had it for a few days now so my DH called Comcast and they sent a guy out here and it turns out the cord for the cable had been chewed through, probably by a squirrel.  So he had to replace the wire which ran from our backyard to our neighbor's so it was a big process.  I'm just so glad it's working! I have felt so out of the loop the last few days!  I love my internet :)

Okay, onto the workshop cards that I promised you.  (I'll be posting the first one now and the rest later.) I ended up having 26 ladies at my house over 3 days and it was soooo much fun!  Thank you all for coming, I had such a great time and I hope you did as well.

For this card, I had told a friend that I never use purple so I decided to challenge myself to use it.  I ended up finding this great striped paper from JoAnn's so it was perfect! The stamps are from PaperTrey Ink except for the cupcake which is A Muse.

To The Moon and Back

PaperTrey in da house!!! 

This card is for my husband.  Valentine's Day will be the 10 year anniversary from our first date! I still can't believe we've been together for a decade!!! How am I even old enough to be with someone for that long?! Haha!  He is one fantastic, funny, sweet, sexy, dependable, thoughtful man and I am so blessed to have him has my partner.  For those of you that know me personally, you know that I'm a bit of an emotional spaz so my DH is definitely the calming factor in my life.  The sentiment on the card says, "I love to the moon and back again, to infinity and beyond, forever and ever."  So true. 

Believe it or not, this card took me all day to make.  I couldn't figure out exactly what I wanted to do or what colors and accessories I wanted to use so I kept going back and forth, back and forth.  In the end, I decided simple was better and I'm happy with the final result.
