SCS Sketch Challenge

I had a little bit of "free" stamping time this morning but couldn't come with ANYTHING so I popped on over to splitcoaststampers.com to hunt for some inspiration.  They have a sketch challenge every week and after checking it out, I decided to play along this time.  I already had this polka-dot paper embossed (isn't it THE CUTEST???! I'm absolutely IN LOVE with this embossing folder! And Nancy has them at Scattered Pictures!) so I grabbed some scrap of A Muse gingham paper and went to work.  I used several different stamps on this one, the backgroung flourish is TCP, the star flourish (stamped on the kraft paper but hard to see in the photo) is Verve Stamps and the sentiment is PTI.  I was mixing and matching today!  The star was made witha  SU! punch, adhesive sheets and glitter.   

It's a cool gray morning here and I'm loving it! I'm sooo ready for Fall!  Yay for jeans, boots and cute sweaters! :)

There's no such thing as too many cupcakes...

Karrie is the hostess for this week's TCP Tueday stamp challenge and when I saw what it was - to use any TCP cupcake image - I knew I had to play along! And since I still had out the Sweet Always paper, I thought why not use it again! (I hope you're not all sick of seeing it!) I pulled out my You Say it's Your Birthday clear set and stamped the cupcake from it several times, masking them as I went. I used Copics to color them and added Twinkle Stickers for some bling!   I got the layout from just pulling out some scraps of paper and moving them around until I got something I liked.  That's a good tip - save and use your scraps! Ya never know when you'll need a little something to finish off a card and a scrap might be just the thing.  The sentiment is from the Smells Like Cake clear set and it's stamped on another piece of scrap paper that I punched out using a Marvy circle punch.

Pink and orange goodness

Oh wow, I am in LOVE with this paper! I've never really been into SU! but the last few months I've been getting a few things here and there (mostly cardstock and punches.)  Anyway, I've been wanting this paper, Sweet Always, forever and I finally ordered it and I'm soooo glad I did. Hello! It's my three favorite colors (pink, orange and chocolate brown) plus my favorite shapes (flower, polka-dots, stripes) all in one pack of paper!! Be still my heart! (How did I survive this long without it??!)  Seriously, I had to keep stopping and fanning myself when I was working with it because I was so excited, lol! :) Thank you SU!, for reading my mind and creating the perfect paper pack. 

Anyway, enough gushing about the delish paper, on to the card! This is for Toni's TCP Tuesday stamp challenge  - to use any TCP cake image.  The image is colored with a mixture of CTMH, Tombow and Copic Markers (I just couldn't seem to get the right shade of orange but this will have to do.)  I also used my new Signo white gel pen (FINALLY one that actually stays completely white!)  Ribbon is A Muse.

I just realized I never posted the rest of my samples from the latest TCP release so I thought I'd add them now. 

What are you plans today?  We're off to go Christmas shopping - yay!  And I had Weight Watchers this morning and I'm officially down 30. 6 pounds - isn't that amazing??  I still can't believe I've lost this much weight - I'm down 3 pants sizes!  Now I seriously need clothes! :)

The Cat's Pajamas Yummy Goodness!!

Yippee for new stamps!!  Alma has done it again and has made some of the cutest Christmas stamps ever!  I love her stuff - TCP rocks!! Anyway, onto the cards - that's what you're here for anyway, right? ;) 

I was majorly stuck on embossing and scoring for this round of cards, I think I used at least one of those techniques on every card I made!  For my first card, I broke out my Scor-pal and scored some lines in the brown paper and then distressed it with sandpaper.  The cardstock has a white core so sanding it made the white show through.  The images are from the new set called Elegant Christmas and they're so pretty! I especially adore the font that Alma used on the sentiments!  The reindeer is stamped with brown ink and then embossed with clear.  I also used one of the swirly stamps that is included in the set and embossed it with clear on the cream background (it's hard to see in the photo.)

   

The second card also uses this same set, Elegant Christmas, but I wanted to showcase the stamps in a different way so I went very simple but used a bright color - turquoise.  And I also did some scoring and embossing on this one.  (This card falls under the "much cuter in real life" category, btw. ) To get the polka dots only part way on the card, I simply layed my paper only partially into the Swiss dots embossing folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug.

TCP Tuesday!

It's TCP Tuesday again!  This week's Hostess with the Mostess is Leigh and as always, she's got a FANTASTIC sketch for us!  Be sure to check out her blog for all the details on TCP Tuesday!

The cool thing about this one is the size - it's actually 4.5" x 7" - and I've never made a card this size before! Fun, fun!  For mine sample, I used my Fairy Christmas set and colored it with Copic markers and added lots of glitter! (I love glitter!)  The paper is American Crafts and is TDF!  I'm a little annoyed at the way I did the sentiment, though.  I got some 'detail' embossing powder (which is supposed to work on small images, like fonts) but it didn't work very well at all so it's hard to read the sentiment.  Bummer.  Hope you like the card anyway!

ETA: Today is TCP Tuesday but I didn't get to play along (again.)  Toni is the Hostess with the Mostess today and she has a color challenge over on her blog.  Hope you get to play along!

Isaiah is feeling much bettter today - yippee! He still stayed home from school, though, since he had a high fever last night and I want him to be fever-free for at least 24 hours before he goes to school.

My card today uses the recently released Fairy Christmas clear set from TCP.  I just love these stamps!  I was wanting to try something a bit diffferent for this card so cut one inch off the bottom edge of the card and adhered patterned paper inside so it showed through.  It's hard to tell in the picture but it looks pretty cool in real life.  I *adore* mixinig patterned paper (there's actually 4 different patterns on this one) and this paper is so easy to coordinate!   The bedspread is paper-pieced and everything else is colored with Copic markers.  Hope ya likey!  I'm off to take a nap (hopefully) with the boys.

Gettin' Tipsy - If you have trouble mixing patterned paper, try buying one of those packs of paper that have lots of different patterns in similar colors.  That way, all the mixing has been done for you, all you have to do is choose the ones you want to use for your card. My favorites are the DCWV stacks from Joann's.

But I actually scrapped! Can you believe it?  If you know me personally, then you know that I DO NOT scrapbook...I kind of hate it actually (to be honest) so this one was definitely a stretch for me. Alma sent me this cute little blackboard house album so she basically forced me to scrap - haha! :)  My plan was to use a picture of Isaiah in his costume from every Halloween that he's had but I couldn't find enough pics!  So, I just used ones from Halloween '03 - he was a little Tiger.

Only one more sleep...

Until the new stamps are released from The Cat's Pajamas!   One of the new sets is called Fairy Christmas and it has a completely different look than the usual TCP.  They're very whimsical and sweet and I ADORE them!  Alma had a new artist design them and I think  more might be on the way in the future.

For my project, I had gotten some coasters in the $ Bins at Michaels (there was like, 20 coasters for a buck) and I thought they would make cute Christmas ornaments.  Both images are covered with paper from American Crafts and colored with Copic markers.  I used a Crop-a-dile to punch holes in the coaster and set the eyelets for the ribbon.

So, all day yesterday I kept thinking it was Monday so I completely forgot about TCP Tuesday! ACK! What a dork! Anyway, Toni is the Hostess with the Mostess this week and her stamp challenge is to use any Sprinkle image (Sprinkle is the name of the cat that is so often used in TCP images.)  Check out her blog for all the details!

Here's my card.  I was in the mood for something Christmas-y but have been running around like a mad-woman trying to get everything done so this is another quick and simple card (love those!)  Enjoy!

TCP Goodness!

I've got another sneak-peek for you guys and this time it's from The Cat's Pajamas! Alma has three new clear sets coming out on Friday (Sept. 22nd) and this one is called Arrgh! Piratey! and it's a set filled with 17 pirate images!! How fun is that?  Perfect timing since yesterday was "Talk Like a Pirate Day."  And want to know what's even better than new stamps?  New stamps ON SALE! Yep!  All you have to do is buy all three of the new stamp sets and you'll get them for $39 instead of the retail price of $54! Awesome deal! And I've heard a rumor that there is blog candy being given away by some of the other Cat Pack members so be sure to check out their blogs to find the yummy goodness! 

For this card, I started with acetate (love that stuff!) and adhered a striped piece of paper on the inner part of the back of the card (so it's actually inside the card.)  Then on the front of the card,  I stamped a swirl from the Poochie Christmas clear set using White Staz-On and the little star image is from the new pirate clear set and it's stamped in black Staz-On.  The awesome patterened paper is from DCWV and the image is colored with Copic markers.  Hope ya likey!

I got the images that Toni sent me today and I was able to make a card for TCP Tuesday.  I'm in a big hurry 'cause we're heading to soccer practice in a few minutes so I have to keep my chit-chat to a minimum.

Here's my card for the challenge.  I LOVE bright colors so this was a fun and easy one for me.  The card is pretty simple and self-explanatory but I like how it turned out.

Today's the Day!

The cutest birthday stamps ever are now available from The Cat's Pajamas!  I know you are all gonna love these so you gotta head over there and check them out!

Here's another sample using these bad boy.  Isn't that cake TDF?  I just love the way Alma does everything with a retro, funky twist. 

I ran the blue background through my Cuttlebug using the D'vine Swirls embossing folder and then adhered it to black cardstock to give it a 'pop'.  The scalloped rectangle frame was made by first stamping the cardstock with the new confetti stamp, coloring it in and then running it through my Cuttlebug using two different Nestabilities dies - Scallop rectangle and Standard Rectangle.  It's then popped up over the cake image.  The cake is colored with PrismaColor pencils and Niji Pearlescent watercolors so it's very shimmery.  I used Adhesive Sheets to attach the glitter to the flower.  Hope ya likey!

TCP Present!!

Here's another peek at the new birthday stamps being released on Friday, August 29th from The Cat's Pajamas.  Aren't they adorable?!! I just love those little cupcakes!  I had the urge to make wrapping paper with them but I didn't want to actually wrap a present so I figured making a faux present would be the next best thing :)  I started my stamping the trio of cupcakes (they're colored with Copic markers and high-lighted with glitter) along a square of white cardstock and then cut it down into a present size.  I added loops of ribbon to the top for a bow and then another strip down the center.  The tag is stamped and then tied on with embroidery thread.  The background was made by running some blue paper through my Cuttlebug using the Birthday embossing folder.  I then distressed it with sandpaper so the white core of the paper would show through. 

Hope you like it! Only two more days 'till you can get your hands on these little babies!!

TCP - New Stamps!! (And they are GOOD!!)

Yippee! I have my first **sneak-peek** of the new The Cat's Pajamas stamps to share with you!  This next release is all about birthdays and let me just say, you are gonna LOVE these stamps!! Seriously.  Alma has outdone herself this time!!

EEEK! Look at that cupcake!!! Isn't it just the cutest thing you ever seen?!! I love it!  Now, I'm not going to give you too many details on this clear set so you'll have the check out the website on August 29th to see it for yourself :) All I'm saying is it's TDF!

TCP Tuesday - Christmas in July

Toni is the stamp challenge Hostess with the Mostess today and her challenge is Christmas in July - make a card/project using any of the TCP Holiday images.  I was sooooo excited to work on this one! The TCP Holiday release from last year was the one I got to work on when I tried out for the Design Team so these stamps hold a special place in my heart.  Every time I pull them out, I remember how it felt when the package came in the mail with the stamps and paper from Alma who was kind enough to give me the chance to try out for my first DT.  I just felt so honored, excited and nervous to be working with such ADORABLE stamps!  Thankfully, Alma liked what I designed and now I get to work for a fantastic woman who is creative, generous and soooo funny!  And I get to be a part of a wonderful group of women who inspire me and challenge me to be better everyday.   Thanks, gals! You are the best!! (It's funny how stamps can bring out so many emotions, huh?)

Okay, back to the card!  You all know I LOVE non-traditional holiday/Christmas colors and this card is no exception.  I actually started with the paper for this card and then went through my TCP images to see what would fit. I thought these mischievous penguins would be perfect!  I've been trying to come up with different layouts lately and this was another one that came from lots of trial and error.  The mittens were first stamped directly onto the card, then I re-stamped them on a scratch piece of paper, colored them, cut them out and then popped them up on top of the first stamped image.  Everything else is pretty self-explanatory.
