SCS Sketch Challenge

I had a little bit of "free" stamping time this morning but couldn't come with ANYTHING so I popped on over to splitcoaststampers.com to hunt for some inspiration.  They have a sketch challenge every week and after checking it out, I decided to play along this time.  I already had this polka-dot paper embossed (isn't it THE CUTEST???! I'm absolutely IN LOVE with this embossing folder! And Nancy has them at Scattered Pictures!) so I grabbed some scrap of A Muse gingham paper and went to work.  I used several different stamps on this one, the backgroung flourish is TCP, the star flourish (stamped on the kraft paper but hard to see in the photo) is Verve Stamps and the sentiment is PTI.  I was mixing and matching today!  The star was made witha  SU! punch, adhesive sheets and glitter.   

It's a cool gray morning here and I'm loving it! I'm sooo ready for Fall!  Yay for jeans, boots and cute sweaters! :)

Manly Monday - Serenity

Hey girlies!  Guess what? I have a Manly Monday card for you and it's actually still Monday, lol! Can you believe it? :) 

Lately I've been itching to use some of my older stamps that haven't seen ink in awhile so I went into my stash and pulled out this Serenity set by Verve Visual.  I just LOVE their stamps and wish I owned them all! 

(Okay, this is totally off subject but I know 8 people that are pregnant and due in September.  Anyway, 3 of them are finding out what they're having today and I just heard from 2 of them and they're both having girls! Yay!! Now I just need to hear from the third one!)

Back to the card! :)  I kept it really simple as I always due for masculine cards since and just added a row of brads for some POP! Hope you like it!

Manly Monday on Wednesday Night - Sheesh!

Man, I am soooo late with this card - sorry!  Maybe I should have it be Manly Wednesday instead of Manly Monday - lol!  I absolutely love this set Seeing Stars from Verve Visual even though I don't use it very often.  It's perfect for making a quick and simple background for guy cards, and it even works for babies and boys, too.  I used Kraft paper and stamped it directly with the stars using red and black inks.  The sentiment is from Papertrey and the brads are American Crafts.

Okay, this is short 'cause I'm getting ready to watch a movie with the Hubby so I gotta go.  Thanks for hanging out with me for a few minutes!

 

Seeing Stars...again

Here's another card using the Seeing Stars set, I just love it!  This card actually came to me in a dream, isn't that funny?  I woke up in the middle of the night to sketch it out so I wouldn't forget!

As you probably know, I love to work with acetate (transparency sheets), I think it's such a fun way to give a different look to your cards.  For this one, I used my different size rectangle Nestablities dies to make the window first in the white cardstock and then in the blue to make a frame.  I stamped the  swirly star in white Staz-on in the corner of the acetate sheet before I attached it to the blue frame.   The sentiment is stamped on the inside of the card and I highlighted a couple of the words using markers.  I really like how this turned out!

Guy cards

Like I said before, I got this Seeing Stars set so I could make guy cards with it and when I make guy cards, I always make them very simple with little or no embellishments.  I also almost always use black, dark brown or navy as a main color just because those colors seem "manly" to me.  For this card, I went with black, red and blue for my color scheme which is a fave color combo of mine.  I just love it. 

After stamping the background on the first card, I struggled with what kind of layout to use so I just went with the first thing that popped into my head.  After it was finished, though,  I really didn't like how it turned out so I decided to re-work it.  I like the second card sooooo much better.  What do you think?

Oh, look! A card!

Yipee! I finally had time/energy to make a card! Ihaven't stamped in over a week, yikes!  I got a bunch of Verve Visual stamps last week and this is the first time I've had a chance to play with them.  If you haven't checked out Verve yet, I highly recommend their stamps and they have the best sentiments.  I have looked everywhere for the sentiment "so proud of you" and they have it! Yea! 

I got this Seeing Stars set to make baby and masculine cards because I find it's always so hard to find cool sets that work for guys and I figure you can't really go wrong with stars, right? 

I love the look of monochromatic cards but I don't make them very often and when I first opened this set, I just saw it in green so that's what I went with. Plus, I always need baby cards, especially unisex ones.

This set is going to make the best background paper! I can't wait to try it in different colors.
