A sketchy hello

I had a small amount of time to stamp today so I decided to whip up this little number to play along with Tracy's sketch.  My mojo is definitely on leave at the moment so this is the best I could get. :)  I made my own flower embellishment using some scrap fabric I had on hand and used some SU! paper that I've been hoarding.  It feels soooo good to get my craft on! ETA: Sentiment is from this set by My Cute Stamps. (Love their stuff!)

SCS Sketch Challenge

I had a little bit of "free" stamping time this morning but couldn't come with ANYTHING so I popped on over to splitcoaststampers.com to hunt for some inspiration.  They have a sketch challenge every week and after checking it out, I decided to play along this time.  I already had this polka-dot paper embossed (isn't it THE CUTEST???! I'm absolutely IN LOVE with this embossing folder! And Nancy has them at Scattered Pictures!) so I grabbed some scrap of A Muse gingham paper and went to work.  I used several different stamps on this one, the backgroung flourish is TCP, the star flourish (stamped on the kraft paper but hard to see in the photo) is Verve Stamps and the sentiment is PTI.  I was mixing and matching today!  The star was made witha  SU! punch, adhesive sheets and glitter.   

It's a cool gray morning here and I'm loving it! I'm sooo ready for Fall!  Yay for jeans, boots and cute sweaters! :)

Today I actually had some "just for fun" stamping time and it was great! I've been soooo busy the last few weeks and haven't had time to just stamp for the love of it, so it was really nice to pull out some products I haven't used in awhile.  My card today is for Jen's SFYTT (Sketch For You To Try) that she posted last Saturday (I'm just getting it in under the wire!). I love Jen's sketches, they always make me get outside my comfort zone and try something new.  The paper and ribbon is from SU! (and look, I tied a bow!!!) and the sentiment is CTMH.  The flower and brad are American Crafts.  Hope you like it!

3 Little Cards

Why, hello there! How are you all today?  I've been getting my craft on the last few days so I have lots of things to show you.  And I haven't forgotten about Manly Monday...it's just been put on the back burner for a few weeks. :) 

I have TONS of friends that are pregnant at the moment and so far all of them are having girls.  So, I thought it would be a good idea to get a jump on making the cards that I'll include with their presents.  I've been into the little 3x3 inch cards lately, so that's what I decided to make.  I used some paper from the Sweet Always paper pack (it's from SU! but I can't find it on the website anymore) and a sentiment from a random SU! set that I have (don't know the name of it, sorry!) I kept these really simple and did the same layout on all of them and just changed the little accessory on each one. 

(Sorry if the color is really off on these.  The new laptop's color settings are completely different than my old one, so I'm having a bit of trouble with my photo editing process.)

Hi everyone!  It's been a few days since my last card post 'cause I've been working on stuff that I can't show you - sorry!  Maybe you'll just have to attend one of my classes so you can all the goodies! ;)  Anyway, here's yet another card from the kit that I love.  I had actually forgotten about this one and it's my fave from the group of cards that I did so I'm surprised I didn't remember it.  This is definitely a "scrappy" card as there is no stamping at all on it (which is rare for me.)  Hope you like it!

Two cards - can ya believe it??

Hey crew! Sorry it's taken me soooo long to post another card - I'm such a blogging slacker! Anyway, like I said earlier, I've made a few more cards using the cutest kit ever and I've got two of them to share with you right now.  I figured I better spread out the cards instead of posting them all at once, otherwise it would probably be another week before you hear from me again, lol! :) The first one my friend Dana helped me make and I just love how sweet and simple it is.  I purposefully left off a sentiment so I can add one later when I need it.  Everything is Stampin' Up (except the glitter which is Stampendous.)

 

The second one uses my favorite image from the kit - this sweet little owl! I just love him!

Some Cards!

Hiya! How's your weekend going?  Everything is great here! The hubby and I went and saw Slumdog Millionaire last night (which I didn't really love like I thought I would) and then we had a great service at church today.  Now the boys are in the back yard cleaning up debris from the last wind some storm (that was like, 2 months ago but they're just now doing it - yikes!) and I'm in here trying to get caught up on my computer stuff.  I even have some cards to share with you! I figured since I've been slacking on the cards lately that I'd show you four I recently made.  Now, most of you know I don't really "do" Stampin' Up! I prefer to support smaller stamp companies but one of my friends sells it now and I joined her monthly club so I get a little something every month.  Anyway, last month I got this SUPER cute kit because it just screamed KATIE!! so of course I had to get it! And then there were these rub-ons that were also totally me so they came to live with me, as well.  One thing I work very hard on is not hoarding my stuff.  If I choose to spend my money on it, then I want to use it! I can't stand it when stuff just sits there being completely wasted.  Anyway, since I have this kit (and I don't scrapbook), I'm determined to use up the whole thing with cards.  Won't that be such a great way to bulk up my stash of cards to send out? I'm super excited about it! The first four came together really easily, especially since they're very simple.  That was my thing - to just sit down and MAKE the cards! Not worry about anything being fancy or special, just get it done!  So, here ya go! In order of my faves from least to most -

This is the first card.  Not the greates but not hideous :)  And I'm going to add a sentiment later when I need it. -

   

#2 - Again, I left the sentiment blank so I can use it for whatever occassion it's called for.

   

#3 - The sentiment is from a SU! set that I borrowed from a friend, not sure which one it was.

   

And my fave!  I think I'll be sending this one off to my grandma. (The sentiment is a rub-on from the set that I linked above.)

 

There ya go! I'm sure I'll have more cards from this kit to show you later.  I have a feeling it's going to make A LOT of cards since four didn't even begin to put a dent in the supplies.

I'm officially a Cuttlebugger!

Well, here ya go, my very first Cuttlebug card.  Wow, I love that thing already!  I used the Happy Birthday folder to make this card for my hubby's mom.  After I ran the purple paper through the CB, I decided to distress it a bit with sandpaper...next time, I think I'll distress it before I emboss it.

Fourth card

This snowflake card is the fourth one that I did for the Christmas Workshop. I wanted something pretty simple for this one.  This set is from SU! and it's called The Snowflake Spot and I love it! Thanks to Jessica for letting me borrow it.   And it's hard to tell in the photo, but the card is actually very glittery.

Card #3

Here's my third card that I did for the Christmas Card Workshop.  For this one, I wanted to do something fun and cutesy and this little snowman is just about the cutest thing ever so I thought he would work perfectly.  The patterned paper is one of my faves but isn't your typical holiday colors but I really like how it turned out.

Christmas Workshop Card #2

Here's card #2 from my Christmas Workshop.  I actually CASEd this layout from a card on SCS but I don't know who did it.  Let me know if it was you and I'll give you credit.  Anyway, this card uses SU!'s Trim the Tree set and the sentiment is from A Muse.  "Holiday Sparkle" is my very favorite sentiment of all time, I love it!

A couple of things -

I distressed the blue cardstock with sandpaper and then stamped the A Muse Simple Snowflake for the background. 
I masked off the tree to stamp the Savvy background to look like little snowflakes.  I really like the effect.

Christmas Card Workshop Card #1

This is the first of five cards that I made for my very first Christmas Card Workshop.  I had such a great time doing it!  The ladies were great, everyone seemed to have fun and I loved getting to teach.  What a blessing.

I have to say, it was a bit of a challenge to come up with five different cards because there are so many factors to think about.  They had to be cute enough to make people happy but yet simple enough for anyone to do (even complete beginners), different styles to (hopefully) appeal to everyone, plus I wanted to use several techniques so that they would learn new things but all the supplies couldn't cost an arm-and-a -leg.  In the end, I'm very happy with all of the cards...hopefully all of the ladies liked them as well!

New blog and a Sketch Challenge

So I discovered a new blog (new to me, anyway), Beate John's blog Fresh and Fun.  She's a VIP at SCS and is an amzing talent! I highly recommend her blog!  One of the cool things she does is a weekend sketch challenge and this card is for Sketch Challenge #18.  If you don't know, a sketch is basically a layout for a card.  I love seeing different sketches 'cause it gets my creative juices flowing and stretches me as a stamper.
